Father-son exhibition, thank you Dad!

A father and son in an exhibition room

This is the story of a shared moment that took place on October 10 and 11 in a small exhibition hall in Linkebeek.

It all started with an idea in January 2025, my father, who has been doing a watercolor a day since he retired, thought why not show them to an audience of friends, neighbors and some of the family?

It was in February 2025 that he spoke to me about it for the first time, very enthusiastic about this concept and delighted at the idea that it would show what occupies his days and thoughts, we began to think about a room, and then very quickly came his idea, that I join him to bring together our worlds, him his watercolors and me my photographs. It's done, we will exhibit together, a first for both of us, what a joy to embark on this project!

The countdown has begun, so it will be Friday, October 10th and Saturday, October 11th. Two days for two different moments, firstly, an opening reception. Because yes, who says exhibition says opening reception around two or three appetizers and some bubbly! And secondly, a whole day of meetings and exchanges.

We were lucky enough to be able to use the (somewhat hidden) room of the bookstore where I would discover new books in my early childhood and where even today my father goes to buy a magazine for my mother every week, the bookstore with the evocative name, Once Upon a Time .

The date chosen, the location confirmed, all that remained was the technical aspects to be completed. Fortunately for my father, all his works were already done, however a moment of reflection to know which watercolors to highlight was necessary, and not the easiest! For my part, the process was the opposite, first making a selection among the many photos and memories immortalized before going to my reference printer and in my neighborhood, les années lumières to bring my selection to life on matte photo paper.

With the mental support of my mother (if you're reading this, Mom, thank you), week after week the work took shape and the piles of wooden frames began to clutter my room. All that was left was to decide on the arrangement of the watercolors and photographs on the walls to finalize the preparation.

I am writing these lines ten days after the exhibition, the emotions and smiles of the exchanges between you, my father and I still fill my memories and will do so for a long time. I came for once with a fairly light mind and relieved of all stress to this event, it was only a bonus. When I began this photographic adventure I never thought that my photographs would come out of my albums on my computer, and that this could allow me to create moments of sharing with family. When passions and sharing meet, happiness is only increased tenfold!

So, when are we doing this again, Dad?

As a reminder, his watercolors are visible on his Instagram .

Oh and by the way, all the photos I have exhibited are of course available in my online store and you currently have a 20% discount with the code EXPO .
